Next season is going to be huge for two upcoming sophomores of Alabama football.
During a global pandemic, Malachi Moore and William Anderson helped the Crimson Tide to a College Football Playoff National Championship as true freshmen. Despite not having a typical offseason before the 2020 campaign, both players put in the work and national media sees how special they are. On Monday, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) named Moore and Anderson to its Freshman All-America Team. Both represented the Tide as its lone two student-athletes named to the list.

Moore, a former four-star via Trussville, Ala., turned in a strong year in the defensive secondary.
He totaled 44 tackles (four for loss), six pass breakups, two quarterback hurries, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, three interceptions (team-high) and one touchdown. His turnovers came against Texas A&M, Georgia, Tennessee and Auburn as Alabama outscored all four opponents, 183-78. Moore was named Freshman All-SEC and second-team All-SEC for his efforts.
Anderson, a former five-star via Hampton, Ga., emerged as a fearsome pass rusher down the stretch.
He was responsible for 10.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks and eight quarterback hurries. His output for sacks led all freshmen in the Southeastern Conference and nationally. He was second in the nation for total quarterback pressures (52) and made the SEC’s All-Freshman Team. Anderson also earned the Shaun Alexander National Freshman Player of the Year award for his excellence at jack linebacker in his first season. The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder accounted for 20 percent — seven-of-35 — of Alabama’s sacks.
