Eddie Smith has found a new home in college football.
After spending three years at the University of Alabama, the former three-star in the 2018 recruiting cycle has transferred and committed to the University of Illinois. Smith, a native of Slidell, La., was a core special teams player for the Crimson Tide that possessed versatility in the defensive secondary. However, he did not get the opportunity to break into the starting rotation.

With the talent the Tide recruited in this class, Smith chose to find a spot elsewhere.
