6-foot-5 WR Jayden Gibson should be on Alabama football’s radar

Jayden Gibson

Jayden Gibson is one of the most dominant wide receiver prospects in the 2022 recruiting class, and Alabama football should give him a serious look.

Touchdown Alabama was able to see him in action at the Pylon 7V7 tournament in Orlando, Florida last weekend. Gibson’s 6-foot-5 frame made him stand out initially, but his play is what separated him. He looked smooth and under control when running routes, which is impressive for a guy his size, and jump balls were easy work for him.

It was evident that Gibson could cover ground quickly with his long stride. He also showed he was capable of creating separation off the line. The Florida product has a ton of confidence in his game to go along with his athletic ability.

Gibson said he is focused on preparing to play at the D1 football level now.

“This off-season is about getting ready for D1 college football,” Gibson said. “I know I am going to dominate high school even more than I did last season. I am trying to get bigger, faster, stronger and quicker to get ready to be able to succeed in college as fast as possible.”

A long list of Power 5 programs have offered Gibson. He currently holds more than 25 offers, but several prominent programs, who are usually right in the hunt for a prospect like Gibson are missing from his offer list. Alabama is one of those programs, especially when you consider the success they have had with wideouts with Florida roots.

There is still time for several programs to jump on the Gibson train as he plans to keep everything open for the time being.

“I am still taking it slow and accepting all opportunities,” Gibson said. “I do not have any favorites right now.”

Gibson went on to say he has great respect for Alabama.

“To me, Alabama is like that offer you never think you will get,” Gibson told Touchdown Alabama. “They have amazing facilities, experienced coaches and a patented method to greatness. It is a great program and is arguably the greatest program ever.”

No 2022 wide receiver has verbally committed to Alabama yet, but several are getting a lot of love from the Tide. Gibson could be set to join this group.
