With the 2021 NFL Draft now just a few months away, every franchise and analyst has dug in and watched hours of tape of hundreds of players trying to make it to the league.
One of the most discussed positions headed into the draft, and seemingly every single one prior, is the quarterback position. The consensus appears to be that Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence will be the first one off the board to the Jacksonville Jaguars, but following its pick things seem to be up for debate.
Everyone seems to have different opinions or reactions to the rest of the quarterbacks up for selection, especially when it comes to Alabama quarterback Mac Jones. Jones appears to have one of the widest ranges when it comes to where he will be picked.
Some have him going inside the top 10 and others believe he is a late-first pick or even worth a second-round look.
But there are many fans of Jones’ ability especially with how his 2020 season went last year, and one of those fans is ESPN analyst Marcus Spears who gushed over his tape with a post to social media.
Watching #MacJones tape 😍😍😍😍😍😍 Yall #MacJones Good at QB

Spears currently serves as an analyst for the ESPN show NFL Live but he was previously a part of multiple SEC Network shows making his connection with evaluating college talent a bit more nuanced.
But the LSU graduate did acknowledge that there is a chance of Jones not reaching the peak of stardom which he did when suiting up in the crimson and white.
He was a star in college and Don’t know if it’s gonna translate. Hell you never know but taking a deeper dive into the Tape. He was good good at Bama this year. He’s Also Poised and didn’t panic in pocket when pressured https://t.co/0oDO5Z6qmQ

Despite the talent surrounding Jones, Spears still made a point that if he is able to translate his college performance to the pros then he will no doubt be successful.
My man It’s not a given he’s gonna be good in the @NFL but if his tape translates he’s gonna be good! It’s not an exact science. I don’t know ONE QB THAT PLAYS WELL WITHOUT AN OLINE OR ENDS UP HURT SO LETS STOP USING THAT ONE . See #MAHOMES Super Bowl tape https://t.co/Ias6PhcfW2
