The University of Alabama is continuing to roll on the recruiting trail.
On Wednesday, the Crimson Tide added its sixth verbal commitment for its 2022 class.
Jaheim Oatis, a massive defensive lineman from Columbia, Miss., has given his verbal to Nick Saban. The 6-foot-5, 345-pounder is a four-star recruit according to Justin Smith, the scouting and recruiting analyst for Touchdown Alabama Magazine. He is the fourth 4-star prospect in the class, and his versatility is as impressive as his imposing presence. According to a video from Karen Howell, Oatis executed a kickoff for Columbia High School. Oatis’ kick rolled inside the 5-yard line, and an opposing player proceeds to try to create a big play.
After a few moments, the young man believes he is going to score a touchdown.
Oatis then comes out of nowhere and plows the returner to the ground near midfield. His helmet came off and his teammates were astonished by the play from the big man. He was recruited to be a defensive lineman, but maybe Saban uses him on special teams too. In recent years, Alabama has used linemen in goal-line situations as blockers and pass-catchers (Da’Ron Payne).
New Tide commit Jaheim Oatis (@JaheimOatis) may wind up as Alabama’s next kickoff specialist. Watch till the end 🤪
