Alabama football threw its hat in the ring for 2023 five-star defensive end, Jayden Wayne Tuesday.

Miami and Texas also extended offers to Wayne Tuesday, boosting his offer total to 23. Alabama’s wide receiver coach Holmon Wiggins informed Wayne of his offer from the Crimson Tide. The five-star prospect said he was taken back when Wiggins informed him.

“I was in shock,” Wayne told Touchdown Alabama. “I was like wow. Receiving an offer from there where I am from is huge.”

The Tacoma, Washington product went on to say he would love to be a part of Alabama’s program in the future.

“They are the best,” Wayne said. Coach Saban is the G.O.A.T. You compete against the best every day and get better. I would love to compete there. It is Alabama. They have a lot of tradition.”

Wayne is a long prospect at 6-foot-6 and 245 pounds. He lined up at defensive end and tight end for Lincoln High School as a sophomore. His length combined with his quickness makes him difficult to contain as an edge rusher. He also plays really well in space.

Alabama’s coaching staff told Wayne they loved his film and feel he has the tools to play for them.
