The University of Alabama graduated Mac Jones to the National Football League, but it returns a quarterback that Crimson Tide fans are excited to see in the fall.

As head coach of the program, Nick Saban won a national championship with Greg McElroy, AJ McCarron, Jacob Coker, and Jones as first-year starting quarterbacks. Now, he expects to continue the trend with Bryce Young.

A sophomore from Pasadena, Calif., Young was a five-star prospect at Mater Dei High School.

He chose Alabama after a prestigious career and won the Dixie Howell Most Valuable Player in the spring game. The 6-foot, 194-pounder has been training for this season, and he is ready to put the college football world on notice of his talents. According to a graphic from CBS Sports, the network listed its “Tier 1 and Tier 2” signal-callers in college football for the fall. Young was not listed in either group; however, his chance to speak is coming.

He will face two quarterbacks, D’Eriq King and Matt Corral, that were listed in Tier 2.

Young will open the season against King and Miami on Saturday, Sept. 4, while the Tide will host Corral and Ole Miss on Saturday, Oct. 2 at Bryant-Denny Stadium. This has the makings of becoming an entertaining year, especially with the talent surrounding Young on offense. He has a surplus of receiving options and running backs with an offensive line ready to roll.

Bill O’Brien, Alabama’s offensive coordinator, is prepared to unleash Young on everyone.
