Rising 2022 defensive tackle Fitzgerald West loves the mentality at Alabama

Fitzgerald West poses for picture with Alabama belt

Fitzgerald West received an offer from Alabama during a visit to Tuscaloosa Monday.

Alabama joined LSU as the only two SEC programs to offer the 2022 defensive lineman. West now holds 20 college football offers. The rising senior said he felt it was a blessing to pull in an offer from the Crimson Tide.

“I feel blessed to have an offer from such a prestigious school,” West said. “I love their mentality.”

West got a chance to talk to Nick Saban during his visit to Tuscaloosa and got an opportunity to tour the Crimson Tide’s player facilities.

“It was surreal talking with coach Saban,” said West. “He told me he could develop me as more than just a football player. Their facilities are also pretty advanced.”

Alabama’s coaching staff complimented West’s ‘power and quickness’ upon informing him of his offer. At 6-foot-3 and 300 pounds, West was a force on the defensive line for Lafayette Christian Academy as a junior. He has quick first step allowed him to make some plays in the backfield and his strength made it difficult for teams to establish an inside run game when e was on the field.

Two 2022 Louisiana prospects are currently committed to Alabama. However, the Tide are far from done recruiting the state. Quency Wiggins, Bryce Anderson and Shazz Preston are among the Tide’s top remaining targets from Louisiana. West joins this impressive group.

The rising senior has a commitment date locked in for July 10th and it is safe to say Alabama is at least in the mix at this moment.
