According to The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman, Texas and Oklahoma will be sending letters to the Big 12 this Monday informing the league of its intention to not renew its grant-of-rights agreement after its expiration in 2025.

This move would confirm the previous reports by the Houston Chronicle and 247 Sports, that the Longhorns and Sooners are eyeing a transition to the SEC.

The remaining eight universities in the Big 12 are now working on contingency plans and assessing what their value would be to other conferences in the country, per the Athletic’s report.

“I’m shell shocked,” an anonymous Big 12 athletic director told The Athletic.

The Big 12 has also reached out to the Pac-12 about a “possible 20-school merger” during the Big 12’s leadership call on Thursday.

This post will be updated.
