Kobe Prentice announced his verbal commitment to Alabama Tuesday.
Prentice is the Crimson Tide’s 13th commit in the 2022 recruiting class. He is rated as a three-star recruit on most recruiting sites but is rated as a four-star, according to Touchdown Alabama. The Calera, Alabama product chose Alabama over Maryland, Arizona State and others.
Maryland previously had a verbal commitment from Prentice, but he backed off that commitment Tuesday. Alabama offered Prentice a day after he originally committed to Maryland. He said it was exciting feeling to get an offer from the Tide.
“I was actually chilling with some of my friends when they offered me,” Prentice said. “When they told me, I just went outside to give God the praise. I was excited. I grew up an Alabama fan, so I like them a lot. I know that they are wide receiver U and put a lot of receivers in the league.”
Prentice was very impressive while camping at Alabama last month. The 5-foot-10 prospect ran a 4.38 forty and was able to show Alabama’s staff what he is capable of doing as an overall wide receiver.
“I think I did pretty good,” said Prentice. “I ran a 4.38 forty and was able to catch a couple of passes in one-on-ones. They told me they like my speed and my ability to create separation.”
