At Alabama, Nick Saban recruits studs at four different positions.
Brian Robinson (ribs) dressed out for the matchup against Southern Mississippi, but the Crimson Tide did not play him.

It turned out to be a good decision, especially with the performance of Roydell Williams. Alabama will have Robinson versus Ole Miss, and Williams showed fans why he was a prized recruit in 2020. An alum of Hueytown (Ala.) High School, Williams took advantage of the moment at Bryant-Denny Stadium. His skill set between the tackles and in space is reminiscent of Alabama’s 2009 Heisman Trophy winner, Mark Ingram. Williams recorded his first career 100-yard rushing performance on 11 carries in the Crimson Tide’s 63-14 victory over the Golden Eagles. He had 110 yards with one touchdown, including a long run of 55 yards.
The 5-foot-10, 208-pounder averaged 10 yards per rush, while five of his 11 carries resulted in first downs.
Williams, a former four-star, displayed speed on the perimeter. He had power in between the tackles and provided the team its first 100-yard running back of the season. Despite a lost fumble versus Miami, he regained his confidence. The Tide might need another big outing from Williams against Mississippi. Robinson will be back, but the sophomore is a good change of pace.
After the game, Coach Nick Saban told reporters he saw quality traits in Williams during the recruiting process.
“He is very explosive,” Saban said. “He’s got great speed, he’s a good receiver. He’s got good power for his size. We always thought Roydell could be a great asset to our offense and a change of pace guy because of the speed he has. He played well tonight. I’m not big when guys fumble, and he fumbled in the Miami game. So, that kind of set him back a little bit. But, I think this was a great game to regain his confidence and make a contribution in the future.”
Williams helped propel a balanced offensive attack. He looks to have a big contribution versus the Rebels.
