The Alabama coaching staff selected seven players of the week following Alabama’s 63-14 win over Southern Miss last Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Roydell Williams and Bryce Young on offense; Will Anderson Jr. and Christian Harris on defense; and Slade Bolden, Jaylen Moody and Jameson Williams on special teams all earned the accolade for their play against the Golden Eagles.
OFFENSE
Roydell Williams
- Rushed for a team-high and career-best 110 yards on just 11 carries
- Converted four first downs with a long rush of 55 yards
- Added the first touchdown of his sophomore campaign, reaching the end zone from one yard out
Bryce Young
- Finished 20-of-22 for 313 yards and five touchdowns
- His 90.9 percent completion percentage set a new school record (minimum 20 completions)
- The five scores tied for the second-most touchdowns in a single game in school history
DEFENSE
Will Anderson Jr.
- Posted a team-high three tackles for loss (-15 yards) as part of his five stops on the evening
- Added one sack (-10 yards) while also recording a quarterback hurry
- Now has 8.5 tackles for loss (-23 yards) on the season to rank second nationally in that category
Christian Harris
- Tied for second on the team in tackles with five stops
- Broke up one pass in coverage while adding a quarterback hurry, one of the Tide’s nine in the game
- Led a Tide defense that limited Southern Miss to only 213 yards of total offense
SPECIAL TEAMS
Slade Bolden
- Provided key blocks on special teams to help the Tide roll up 177 yards on kickoff returns
Jaylen Moody
- Made one stop on kickoff coverage to limit the Golden Eagles’ returner to a 17-yard gain
- Finished with three total tackles by game’s end
Jameson Williams
- Returned three kickoffs for 177 yards and two total touchdowns
- Became the first player in Alabama history to return two kickoffs for a score in the same game
- His pair of kickoffs were the 27th and 28th for touchdowns in UA history with his 100-yarder being just the eighth 100-yard return in program annals
