Jaleel Skinner announced his commitment to Alabama football Friday.
Skinner is rated as a four-star tight end and is the Crimson Tide’s 16th verbal commit in the 2022 recruiting class. He is the third 2022 tight-end prospect to chose Alabama, joining Elijah Brown and Amari Niblack.
The four-star recruit chose Alabama over Texas, Florida State, Miami and Clemson, who were all listed in Skinner’s top five. Clemson was the only program listed among Skinner’s finalist who did not host him for an official visit. Alabama got Skinner on campus for an official visit in June.
The South Carolina native is playing his senior season at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. He currently stands at 6-foot-5 and weighs 215 pounds.
Skinner is regarded as one of the top tight end prospects in the country with his ability to be a receiving threat as a wide receiver, lined out wide and block as an in-line tight end. His long frame makes him a defensive mismatch, and he can produce after the catch.

Alabama is most likely done recruiting tight ends with a commitment from Skinner. The Tide’s coaching staff is expected to focus more on the wide receiver position moving forward.
