Despite it being a bye week, Alabama head coach Nick Saban provided some news on injured linebacker Drew Sanders during his weekly radio appearance on “Hey Coach.”
When speaking with Eli Gold, Saban said that there is a possibility of Sanders suiting up for the Crimson Tide next week when it welcomes LSU to Bryant-Denny Stadium.
“I think there’s some possibility,” Saban said on Thursday. “I think they’re gonna do some scans on him next week early in the week, and if those work out, he may be able to play in the next game. But they’ve still gotta make sure he’s healed. If he’s healed then they can clear him to play. But the technology in medicine right now like unbelievable, and they can really tell whether his wrist and thumb and all that is healed properly so he won’t get reinjured and get a setback.”
Sanders has been dealing with a hand injury sustained after the Ole Miss game. The sophomore was originally filling in for linebacker Christopher Allen who suffered a season-ending injury during the team’s season opener against Miami.
In his five games of action, Sanders has performed well recording 20 total tackles, one tackle for loss, four quarterback hurries and two pass breakups.
