Brian Kelly to LSU adds more firepower and prestige to loaded SEC West coaching lineup

Quinn Harris-USA TODAY Sports

Another coaching bombshell was dropped Monday night as multiple reports shared that LSU would be naming Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly its next head coach tomorrow.

Kelly, who’s led Notre Dame to now five straight seasons of at least 10 wins and led the Fighting Irish to the College Football Playoff as recent as last season, brings more firepower to an already stacked coaching lineup in the SEC West.

Not only does the division own the greatest coach in the history of the sport in Nick Saban but also boasts the likes of Jimbo Fisher (Texas A&M), Lane Kiffin (Ole Miss), Mike Leach (Mississippi State), Sam Pittman (Arkansas) Bryan Harsin (Auburn) and now Kelly is added to the mix.

The seven head coaches have a combined regular-season winning percentage of 68 percent and 47 bowl wins.

It should also be mentioned that the SEC will be picking up Oklahoma and Texas in the near future further adding to its status as the premier college football conference.
