Alabama will be without John Metchie, but it might be getting a wide receiver back for the College Football Playoff.
JoJo Earle suffered a knee injury versus New Mexico State.
The talented freshman has missed the last three games. Earle, a native of Aledo, Texas, arrived in the Crimson Tide’s recent signing class as a four-star. He has 12 catches for 148 receiving yards in ten games. The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder also serves as a punt returner for the Tide. During today’s unveiling of the final CFP rankings, Nick Saban updated the media on Earle.
According to him, Earle may see action versus Cincinnati in the CFP semifinal matchup on New Year’s Eve.
“He is getting to the point where he’s dry-land running and has some opportunity to come back and play this game,” Saban said of Earle.
Alabama fans are happy for the chance to have Earle on the field.
The Crimson Tide will face the Bearcats in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
