Everyone’s football journey has to start somewhere.
Whether it’s an ESPN highlight or playing catch in the yard each individual can point to a moment that shaped their football career.
On one of the biggest nights of his life, Alabama quarterback Bryce Young discussed his personal inspiration for playing the game of football.
Young brought up his father, Craig, and how the two of them bonded over football and inspired him to play.
“I would have to say my dad,” Young said Saturday during the Heisman Trophy pre-ceremony media availability. “He played and he obviously was a big football fan, always watching games and watching football together. He’s always been super passionate about it, he was always super supportive. So I would definitely say my dad was my biggest inspiration.”
The father and son relationship over football has blossomed into Young becoming one of the top players in the country. In his first year as a full-time starter for the Crimson Tide, Young has passed for 4,322 yards, 43 touchdowns and has completed 68 percent of his passes.
Young’s hard work could pay off tonight in the form of being the first quarterback in Alabama history to win the Heisman Trophy.
