Shortly following the national championship game, Alabama was in the market for a cornerbacks coach and it may have just filled that role.

It was reported by Bruce Feldman and Aaron Suttles of The Athletic, that the Crimson Tide are expected to hire Miami defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson.

Former cornerbacks Coach Jay Valai moved on from Alabama and accepted the co-defensive coordinator position at Oklahoma after just one season in Tuscaloosa.

Robinson brings over 15 years of coaching experience with defensive backs to Nick Saban’s staff. After graduating from in-state rival Auburn, Robinson was a graduate assistant for the Tigers from 2006-07 before a few quick stops at Western Kentucky, Southern Miss and Texas Tech until he landed the defensive backs coach job with Florida.

He would spend five seasons with the Gators before moving back to his alma mater Auburn in 2015. But this time around he didn’t take long before landing his next big gig as he was hired as the defensive coordinator for South Carolina from 2016-20.

Finally, Robinson would move south to and join Manny Diaz’s staff with the Hurricanes from 2021-22. Diaz was relieved from his coaching duties following the season and Robinson was originally expected to be retained by Mario Cristobal’s staff but is now expected to join Saban’s at Alabama.
