Could Bill O’Brien reunite with Bill Belichick in New England?
Several reports are swirling, including one from the New York Post, about Josh McDaniels possibly becoming the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. McDaniels and the Raiders have expressed mutual interests, and Derek Carr could thrive as a quarterback under him.

McDaniels started his career with the Patriots as a personnel assistant in 2001.
He emerged to become a defensive assistant, quarterbacks coach, and offensive coordinator. After spending time with the Broncos and Rams, McDaniels returned to New England in 2012 as an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks’ coach. The 45-year-old has won six Super Bowls with Tom Brady and the Patriots.
Las Vegas wants McDaniels and if he takes the job, O’Brien could be back with the Patriots.
O’Brien served as an offensive assistant, wide receivers’ coach, quarterbacks’ coach, and offensive coordinator from 2007 to 2011 for New England. He was Alabama’s offensive coordinator in 2021.
coached the Crimson Tide to an average of 39.9 points per game. Alabama scored 40+ points in nine games, and he produced a 4,000-yard quarterback (Bryce Young), a 1,000-yard running back (Brian Robinson Jr.), and two 1,000-yard receivers (Jameson Williams and John Metchie).
O’Brien coached Young to being the program’s first Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback.
