Elliot Washington made his way back to Tuscaloosa to visit Alabama football Saturday and he has them ‘high’ on his list after the one-day visit.
Washington earned an Alabama offer at camp in June. The Venice High School (FL) product included the Crimson Tide in his top five in November along with Penn State, Georgia, Ohio State and Michigan State. Washington said Saturday’s visit gave him a chance to get to know Alabama’s coaches a little better.
“It was a great visit at Alabama, meeting more coaches and spending time with them all,” Washington said. “This was my second visit since last summer; and I had more time to enjoy it all.”
Jay Valai was Alabama’s cornerbacks backs coach when Washington first received an offer from Alabama. The four-star recruit’s relationship with the Tide was growing with Valai on Alabama’s staff, and it has continued to grow with the hiring of Travaris Robinson as Alabama’s new cornerbacks coach.
“Our relationship has been ongoing,” Washington said. “They hired coach T-Rob, (Robinson) and he coached my cousin Brian Poole at Florida, so I was familiar. I know he has developed a lot of first-round defensive backs at Florida, South Carolina, and Auburn. Our relationship has grown overall.”
Nick Saban visited Venice High School recently to check on Washington and his teammates. The Alabama head coach spoke with Washington during his latest trip to Tuscaloosa about what it would be like as an Alabama football player.
“I had a good talk with coach Saban,” Washington said. “He talked about the program and the expectations at Alabama. He is very detailed. You can tell he wants to get the most out of each player in the program.”
Washington helped Venice High School win a state championship during the 2021 football season. At 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, Washington possesses a thick frame and is projected to be a safety at the next level. He made plays on special teams and on the defensive side of the football last season.

Washington plans to continue evaluating everything before he moves on with his recruitment.
“My next step is to continue to evaluate all my options,” Washington said. “My family will continue to help me with finding the best program.”
