According to a report from Football Scoop, Dooley will join the Crimson Tide’s coaching staff as a senior offensive analyst.
As a native Georgian, Dooley served as an assistant head coach, tight ends coach, running backs coach under Saban at Louisiana State University from 2000 to 2004. He earned a BCS National Championship ring on Saban’s staff in 2003. Dooley followed Saban to the National Football League in 2005 and 2006 with the Miami Dolphins. He coached tight ends for two years.
Dooley has a wealth of Southeastern Conference experience that started as a graduate assistant in 1996 at Georgia. He spent time at LSU under Saban and Tennessee as a head coach from 2010-12. Dooley’s head coach tenure for the Volunteers and Louisiana Tech did not yield the results he wanted. However, his experiences in college and the NFL make him an ideal hire for the Tide.
Dooley joins Alex Mortensen and Zach Mettenberger to help Bill O’Brien with the offense.
