Jahlil Hurley announced his verbal commitment to Alabama football Tuesday via Twitter.

Hurley is a product of Florence High School in Florence Alabama, and he holds more than 25 D1 offers. He chose the Crimson Tide over Georgia, Auburn and others. Alabama has been trending as the favorite to land Hurley for several months as he told Touchdown Alabama in October he had a strong relationship with Alabama’s coaching staff.

“Contact with them has been pretty strong,” Hurley said. “I talk to them at least once a week. I know they are busy, and I am busy during the season, but I would say our relationship is strong if I had to describe it.”

Hurley’s pledge gives Alabama two 2023 commits after Elliot Washington verbally committed to the Tide in January.

Hurley stands at 6-foot-3 and weighs 170 pounds, according to Florence High School’s roster. He is a long and rangy defensive back, who is smooth in coverage. He can match up with wideout in man coverage, and he knows where he needs to be in zone coverage at all times.

The Falcons used the Alabama commit in a variety of ways during his junior season. He played all over the secondary at cornerback and safety. He also spent some time at wide receiver, and he put his ball skills and athletic ability on full display.

Alabama hopes that Hurley’s commitment is a sign of what is to come for in-state recruiting in the 2023 recruiting class.
