Brian Robinson’s departure to the NFL Draft opens competition for Alabama’s starting running back job.

The Crimson Tide has four players to battle for the No. 1 spot in spring football.

It returns Trey Sanders, Jase McClellan, and Roydell Williams while adding Jahmyr Gibbs from the NCAA transfer portal. All four bring something different to the rotation, but which one fits the modern-day scheme Alabama is running. Nick Saban and Robert Gillespie (running backs coach) will rotate all the players, but they will also locate which one gives the team the best opportunity to win games as the primary rusher. In last week’s segment from In My Own Words, Stephen Smith of Touchdown Alabama Magazine discussed the four backs. He broke down the components of Sanders, McClellan, Williams, and Gibbs.

Will transfer Jahmyr Gibbs start over McClellan & Sanders?

We will see which one obtains the starting job.
