Alabama is known for having elite talents at wide receiver in college football.
The next playmaker is ready to emerge, but is it one of the athletes from the 2021 class?
John Metchie told reporters at the NFL Combine that Ja’Corey Brooks is the next special receiver. As a South Florida native, Brooks totaled 15 receptions — including two for touchdowns as a freshman. He recorded a 28-yard touchdown catch versus Auburn in the Iron Bowl to tie the game at 10. Brooks has earned the trust of Nick Saban, Bryce Young, and others on the team.
It is great when your peers esteem you highly but is Brooks’ the next superstar? Last week, Stephen Smith of Touchdown Alabama Magazine set up the conversation via In My Own Words. Crimson Tide fans will have their eyes on Brooks in spring practice. Brooks looks to embrace the mantle of Julio Jones, Amari Cooper, Calvin Ridley, Jerry Jeudy, DeVonta Smith, Jameson Williams, and Metchie.
