Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. picked up his first D1 offer Sunday from Marshall University, and the future of the Alabama legacy’s recruitment looks to be very bright.
Kirkpatrick Jr. is currently a sophomore, and he is a member of the 2024 recruiting class. His dad, Dre Kirkpatrick played for Alabama from 2009 to 2011 before being drafted in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. The Crimson Tide hosted Kirkpatrick Jr. Saturday for an unofficial visit, and he got an opportunity to continue building his relationship with Alabama’s staff.
“I spent a lot of time with their coaches,” Kirkpatrick Jr. said. “Building great relationships is something that I look for on visits. I have a good relationship with coach T Rob (Travaris Robinson) and a couple of their recruiting coordinators.”

The 2024 defensive back is obviously no stranger to Alabama football. The younger Kirkpatrick use to visit Alabama’s player facilities when his dad was a player. He has not put much thought into where he wants to go, but he feels an opportunity to play for Alabama would be epic.
“I know it would be a great legacy and a great story,” said Kirkpatrick Jr. “But I have not really thought about where I want to go yet.”
Kirkpatrick Jr.’s recruitment could be on the verge of taking off after picking up an offer from the Thundering Herd. At 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds, Kirkpatrick Jr. flowed down hill with the intent to make some punishing tackles as a safety close to the line of scrimmage. He wants to improve some of the mental aspects of his game heading into his junior season.
“I want to learn how to study film better and have a better approach on Friday nights,” Kirkpatrick Jr. said. “There is nothing I feel I am lacking, skill-wise.”
