Evan Neal exits as one of the best linemen of the Nick Saban era.

He became an All-American as an offensive tackle in two seasons at the University of Alabama.

Neal protected two 4,000+ yard quarterbacks (Mac Jones, Bryce Young), blocked for two 1,200+ yard running backs (Najee Harris, Brian Robinson Jr.), and his dominance on the line allowed for three 1,000+ yard receivers (DeVonta Smith, Jameson Williams, John Metchie). Neal’s success as a starter helped the Crimson Tide produce back-to-back Heisman Trophy winners in Smith and Bryce Young. He arrived in 2019 as a five-star, and Neal is a projected top-five NFL Draft pick for next month.

On Wednesday, he impressed NFL teams with his quickness and athleticism at Alabama’s Pro Day in Tuscaloosa.

The 6-foot-7, 335-pounder will excel at guard or tackle because of his versatility, intelligence, and experience. Crimson Tide fans want to see the offensive front improve in the fall, and it starts with having anchors at both tackle spots. Neal has watched spring practice preparing for the draft, and he gave reporters some details.

“When I went out there to watch spring practice, I saw Kendall Randolph working at tackle and JC Latham on the opposite side,” Neal said. “Coaches rotate guys to see what the best fit is. I do know those guys work hard. We are going to be in good hands with those guys.”

Alabama has several names competing at tackle, but Neal highlighted Latham and Randolph.

Latham arrived as a five-star in the 2021 class from IMG Academy as the most prepared prospect from high school. He earned playing time last season but is pushing for a starting role. Randolph is in his sixth season as an offensive lineman/tight end.

He came to the Crimson Tide as a four-star in the 2017 class. Randolph has two College Football Playoff National Championship rings (2017, 2020) and three Southeastern Conference title rings (2018, 2020, 2021).

We will see if Latham and Randolph secure both offensive tackle positions.
