Jordan Battle gives reporters two things in his interviews: humor and honesty.

He had the media laughing in discussing Nick Saban’s love for “deez nuts” jokes, but Battle provided an honest assessment of himself in today’s media availability before spring practice.

The South Florida native is back for his senior season in Alabama’s secondary.

He earned first-team All-SEC honors and second-team All-American honors (AFCA) for his performance in 2021, helping the Crimson Tide win a Southeastern Conference Championship. Battle finished fourth on the team for total tackles (86) and totaled three pass breakups, three interceptions (shared team lead), and a quarterback hurry. He returned two interceptions for touchdowns, including a 42-yard pick-six versus Georgia in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta. The 6-foot-1, 206-pounder has grown in leadership and is one of five players in the internal leadership group for the team. Battle has first-round potential for the 2023 NFL Draft, but he knows he needs to improve in some areas. He is also working on finishing his degree as well.

“I’m just focusing on leadership,” Battle said. “That’s the main thing for me. Getting better in coverage. Sometimes, I get a little lazy in my coverage, so just locking in every play.”

Brute honesty from Battle, as he looks to show draft pundits that he is the best player at his position in the fall. He wants to communicate the signals better across the formation and have Alabama’s defense as one of the nation’s best.

Battle has grown each season under Saban, and now he is ready to play his best football.
