Alabama football recently jumped into the race to land one of the nation’s top 2024 linebackers.

The Crimson Tide became the 18th program to offer sophomore linebacker, Sammy Brown Monday. Brown currently attends Jefferson County High School in Jefferson, Georgia. His offer list includes offers from Georgia, Ohio State, Clemson and more.

Nick Saban informed Brown of his offer from the Tide during a meeting in his office.

“It is kind of funny,” Brown told Touchdown Alabama. “Coach Saban actually offered me, but I could not really tell. I had to confirm it with coach Golding. It is super exciting to have such a big offer like that, especially from such a great coach like coach Saban. There is no doubt that Alabama is one of the best programs in history. A whole lot of that comes from coach Saban and the way he approaches things. Alabama is a super historical program.”

Brown’s respect for Saban made picking up an offer from Alabama feel like a huge accomplishment.

“He is definitely one of the greatest coaches of all time,” Brown said. “His success is a direct reflection of how he structures things at practice and such, almost like a business. He makes the practices intense and high-paced. Doing so produces hard-working and mentally strong football players, which is the staple of Alabama football.”

Brown got an opportunity to see the Alabama football facilities and watch the Tide’s Monday practice. He left impressed with the way practice was operated by Alabama’s coaches.

“I love the way they practice,” said Brown. “It is super old school, no music, no chitter-chatter, no silliness. It is just straight work.”

Jefferson County used Brown on both sides of the ball during his sophomore season. The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder finished his sophomore season with 51 tackles, three sacks, five tackles for loss and one fumble recovery. The Georgia product also rushed for 750 yards and 12 touchdowns while only playing in six games.

“Coach Saban said he liked my speed and physicality,” Brown said. “Their other coaches mentioned the multi-sport athlete part and how those sports play into football. They also like that I play on the offensive side of the ball too.”
