Will the New England Patriots draft a wide receiver that Mac Jones played with at Alabama?
The franchise is hosting John Metchie today per Jordan Schultz. Metchie has met with the Patriots and spoke at the NFL Scouting Combine about how great it would be to reunite with Jones. The two formed a connection in the Crimson Tide’s undefeated College Football Playoff National Championship season in 2020. Metchie caught 55 passes from Jones to 916 yards receiving and six touchdowns. He recorded two 100+ yard performances versus Texas A&M (181) and Tennessee (151) that year.
Busy week of top-30 visits for @AlabamaFTBL WR John Metchie III:
Source says Metchie — an All-SEC performer this season for the Tide — is with the #Bills today, #Patriots tomorrow and #Jags Thursday. 🐘

As Alabama’s No. 1 receiver in 2021, the native Canadian led the team in receptions (96) and had 1,142 yards with eight scores.

Metchie earned second-team All-SEC honors. A knee injury in the Southeastern Conference Championship Game versus Georgia forced him to miss the CFP. His production for receptions and receiving yards ranked him third and seventh, respectively in school history for a single season. Metchie’s 155 catches (seventh) and 2,081 yards (seventh) are in the top-10 all-time for career production in Tide history. The Patriots need receivers, and Metchie would serve as an excellent choice to grow with Jones.
