Mac Jones has been serious all offseason about having a sophomore leap in the National Football League.

New England has been impressed by his work habits, change in diet, improving his body strength, and connecting more with his teammates. Kendrick Bourne, a wide receiver for the Patriots, told reporters in organized team activities or OTAs that Jones looks like a pro now. DeVante Parker, the newest receiver to New England, echoed Bourne’s statement with his thoughts on Jones.

Parker, a first-round pick of the 2015 NFL Draft, spent seven years with the Miami Dolphins before getting traded to the Patriots.

“Mac is looking good,” Parker said Tuesday to Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald. “He is our leader. That’s what this team needs.”

Parker totaled one 1,000-yard season with the Dolphins in 2019, but he hopes to have more in New England. Jones finished his rookie season with 3,801 passing yards, which placed him slightly outside the top-10 (No. 13) for quarterbacks. He totaled 22 touchdown passes and a passer rating of 92.5. Jones got the Patriots to the playoffs at 10-7 and set rookie franchise records.

New England is excited about Jones’ growth in OTAs and what he will do in the fall.
