Ju’Juan Johnson was at a loss for words when he found out he picked up an offer from Alabama football Wednesday.
Johnson attends Lafayette Christian Academy in Louisiana. Alabama is the seventh D1 program to offer the rising junior. The 2024 prospect found out about his offer during a conversation with Nick Saban, and he said he was surprised by the offer.
“I was shocked,” Johnson said. “I could not believe it. I am extremely blessed, and I was speechless. I love their program. It is kind of run like ours at school. It is fast-paced, always jogging everywhere. It is going to get the work out of you, and that is why I love it.”
The Lafayette Academy product found out about his offer alongside his teammates, Melvin Hills and Sandy Lewis, who also picked up offers from the Crimson Tide. Johnson said it was a memorable moment for all three of them.
“It was special, knowing that they got it too, it was love all around,” said Johnson.
Saban spoke with all three after the camp.
“He is a great man,” Johnson said. “I have a lot of respect for him. He coached me up a few times, and I am thankful for that.”
Johnson was the starting quarterback for Lafayette Christian during the 2021 football season. He was able to display his impressive athleticism by making plays with his feet. He has a solid arm as well. However, Alabama will recruit Johnson as a defensive back.
At 5-foot-11 and 178 pounds, the Louisiana native has worked at as a defensive back at multiple camps this summer and impressed.
