Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has been hard at work this offseason developing his on-field connection with new receiver Tyreek Hill.
Hill is expected to be one of the key components of the team’s future success as he has been heralded as one of the top wide receivers in the NFL. So far the two report there’s been a lot of progress in finding out how to function together with Hill drawing an interesting comparison to the duo.
During an episode of his podcast “It Needed to be Said” Hill compared him and Tua’s connection to that of Dennis Rodman and Carmen Electra.
“All we’re going to say is if you put certain people in certain situations, they’re going to succeed,” Hill said. “That’s me, that’s Tua, that’s anybody that plays in a professional football league. If your organization believes in you, then they’ll set you up for certain success, and they definitely believe in this young man right here. I’m excited for the season, man.”
“Fans, you know what they should expect? They should expect the Dennis Rodman and the Carmen Electra connection, dog.”
Rodman and Electra had a famous runaway in the middle of the Chicago Bulls 1998 season where Rodman ran away to Las Vegas to party with the model and famously had to be brought back to the team by Michael Jordan.
Tagovailoa shared on the podcast he has a clear idea of who he wants to be in that comparison.
“How about this?” Tagovailoa said. “If he’s Dennis, then I’ll be MJ.”
Even though the fascinating comparison was obviously played for humor, Hill is confident that the work ethic between him and Tagovailoa will blossom a dynamic connection on the field.
“I just feel like our chemistry will get there,” Hill said. “It’s going to be about 2 a.m. one night, and you’re going to wake up, you’re going to walk in your kitchen and I’m going to be washing your dishes. That’s how good our chemistry will be, dog. You’re going to be like, ‘Reek, what you doing in here?’ I’m going to be like, ‘Man, I’m trying to get that chemistry and that bond together, dog,’ so you’re going to know where I’m at all the time on the field, so if I run a 60-yard route and decide to just turn it into a comeback, I just need the ball right there, dog, so our chemistry’s going to be on point. Just believe that.”
