The Maxwell Award announced its 2022 preseason watch list on Monday, with Alabama quarterback Bryce Young and linebacker Will Anderson making the list.

The Crimson Tide has secured five Maxwell Award winners, including Young, who earned the award in 2021 along with quarterbacks AJ McCarron (2013), Tua Tagovailoa (2018), wide receiver DeVonta Smith (2020) and running back Derrick Henry (2015).
Last season Young put together an impressive campaign during his first year as Alabama’s full-time starting quarterback. Through 15 games Young threw for 4,872 yards, 47 touchdowns and completed 66.9 percent of his passes as he went on to win the Heisman Trophy.
Anderson was equally dominant on the defensive side of the ball for Alabama in 2021. During his sophomore season, Anderson amassed 101 tackles, 33.5 tackles for loss and 17.5 sacks.
