Has Alabama football found its lightning in a bottle at running back since Kenyan Drake?
Jahmyr Gibbs came to the Crimson Tide in the spring as a transfer from Georgia Tech. The 5-foot-11, 200-pounder recorded 1,800 all-purpose yards and seven touchdowns for the Yellow Jackets in 2021. He displayed extraordinary playmaking skills and versatility as a runner, receiver, and return specialist. Brian Robinson brought power to the Tide last year, but Gibbs provides a home run threat whenever he touches the ball. He broke a 75-yard touchdown run at Bryant-Denny Stadium for A-Day in April.

Bryce Young, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, spoke about his new teammate in Atlanta for SEC Media Days.
The junior quarterback said Gibbs brings everything to the Tide on offense as a back.
Alabama QB Bryce Young on what makes transfer RB Jahmyr Gibbs special:
“He is super explosive, super dynamic, and he’s really smart. He understands the offense really well. It’s not just him running and catching the ball, but he’s good with protections too.”@TDAlabamaMag pic.twitter.com/O8zsMCZVIM

“Jahmyr is super explosive, super dynamic, and he’s really smart, ” Young said. “He understands the offense well, even in the short time he has been here. It feels like he’s been here for multiple years because he understands the offense. He’s smart in running the ball, catching passes out the backfield, and protections. He knows where his eyes need to be. I am super excited to watch him and play alongside him.”
Coach Nick Saban raved about Gibbs’ abilities in the spring, and now Young is talking about his running back.
Some consider Gibbs as a potential Heisman candidate. We will see how he performs with the Tide.
