Sterling Dixon picked up his 29th D1 offer Monday after camping at the University of Alabama.
Dixon attends Mobile Christian School in Alabama, and he garners a four-star rating from multiple recruiting sites. The Crimson Tide have been showing interest in the rising junior since he camped at UA last year. His latest camp showing impressed Alabama’s coaching staff and led to his offer.
“After the camp, coach Pete Golding said he loved the way I moved,” Dixon said. “He had great things to say about me as a person, and they offered. This offer stands out because it is Alabama. What they have accomplished by sending a bunch of guys to the next level is something I want to be a part of.”
Nick Saban caught up with Dixon after his camp performance. The four-star recruit said he felt Saban was being honest during their conversation.
“Our conversation was amazing,” Dixon said. “Coach Saban is really a straight-forward guy, and he told me the truth about me coming in and switching positions, and how early I could play. I loved everything about him.”
At 6-foot-3 and 211 pounds, Dixon is a hybrid linebacker prospect. He has the frame and the length to grow into an edge-rusher, and he has the athleticism to be an inside linebacker. While the Leopards allow Dixon to rush from the edge, Saban sees him as an inside linebacker.
Dixon’s recruitment has continued to grown despite him missing most of his sophomore season with a shoulder injury. The Mobile Christian Product said he is excited to returned to the field this upcoming season.
“I am just a better player,” said Dixon. “I am smarter than I was a year ago. The injury made me stronger, mentally and physically. It challenged me everyday to become better. It showed me how to overcome adversity.”
