Caleb Downs is set to announce his commitment Wednesday at 12 p.m. CST.
Downs attends Mill Creek High School in Georgia. He garners a five-star rating, and he is widely considered the nation’s top safety prospect. The Georgia product will choose between Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State and Notre Dame.
Alabama football has hosted Downs a couple of times over the last few months. He spent a few days in Tuscaloosa during the spring, and he returned to campus in June for an official visit. A commitment from the five-star would give the Crimson Tide three five-star defensive back commits.
At 6-foot and approximately 190 pounds, Downs is a ball-hawking safety in the secondary. He is also a weapon in run support as he comes downhill with great speed.
