Nick Saban addressed the media following Alabama’s second fall camp scrimmage on Saturday and provided a few quick injury updates regarding his team.
Last week Saban shared that defensive back Khyree Jackson had sustained a groin injury at practice and missed several sessions including the team’s previous scrimmage a week ago. But today, Jackson returned to the field in a bit of a limited capacity and performed well in his opportunities.
“Well, Khyree scrimmaged about 2/3’s of the time, maybe 3/4’s of the time,” Saban said. “He’s making progress. He was able to practice the last two days, Thursday and Friday probably about half the time. So he’s making progress and I thought he did a nice job today when he was in there.”
Another Crimson Tide cornerback on the injury list last week was LSU transfer Eli Ricks who was dealing with some back issues following last week’s scrimmage. Ricks was able to warm up with the team today but was held out because he wasn’t able to practice leading into the scrimmage.
Saban said that Ricks is expected to return to practice this week.
“Eli dressed out, went through warmup, but we held him out because he really hadn’t practiced,” Saban said. “But I think he’ll be ready to go on Tuesday.”
The last brief update Saban provided on the injury front was with offensive lineman Seth McLaughlin. McLaughlin did not play participate in today’s scrimmage with an undisclosed injury, but Saban reported that he will be back with the team shortly.
“Seth was out today but he’ll be back shortly as well,” Saban said.
Alabama will return on Tuesday for its final week of fall camp.
