Alabama has a deep rotation at the wide receiver position, but a veteran name is stepping up.
Traeshon Holden, a junior, stood out for the Crimson Tide during Saturday’s scrimmage. In the final game-like practice of fall camp, Nick Saban told reporters Holden had four to five catches.
The 6-foot-3 specimen had some good moments last season, including his first career touchdown against Mississippi State. He brings size, routes, hands, speed, and playmaking abilities, but it is time for the former four-star to emerge as a weapon on offense.
According to credible sources, Touchdown Alabama Magazine learned Holden totaled three touchdowns in the scrimmage. One came on a 60-yard pass from Bryce Young. Holden caught one touchdown over freshman defensive back Antonio Kite, and he put moved on Terrion Arnold for his other two scores.
Coach Saban was pleased with the whole receiver room improving from the first scrimmage, but Holden took this one personal. He performed well in the first exhibition, yet Saban highlighted him after this one. Jermaine Burton has been the most consistent receiver, but it’s good to see Holden make a move to be a starter in the room.
