He could be the first college football player to win the Heisman Trophy in back-to-back seasons since Archie Griffin, but Alabama quarterback Bryce Young could also repeat for another award.

The Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans (La.) sponsors the Manning Award. Since 2004, the Manning Award honors the accomplishments of Archie Manning, Peyton Manning, and Eli Manning. All three were legends in the Southeastern Conference and all played quarterback in the National Football League. The Sugar Bowl committee judges the candidates for the Manning Award to see who is the best quarterback in college football. Bryce Young won the honor in 2021 after a strong sophomore year.

He set single-season school records for passing yards (4,872), touchdown passes (47), and total touchdowns (50) for Alabama.

Young guided the Crimson Tide to an SEC Championship and the College Football Playoff. He collected numerous individual accolades, but his focus is winning a CFP National Championship. Mac Jones became the first Tide signal-caller to win the Manning Award in 2020, but Young has a chance to go back-to-back. He is one of 30 preseason candidates in the running.
