Alabama’s fall camp wraps up this week and has already begun the early portion of game prep for its Week 1 matchup against Utah State next Saturday.

But this week the Crimson Tide will be able to get an early look at the Aggies who play UConn on Aug. 27 which gives Alabama an extra bit of tape to study before the matchup in Tuscaloosa.

There will already be some familiarity heading into the game in the form of Utah State’s highest profile receiver Xavier Williams. Williams was originally a member of Alabama in the class of 2018 where he caught three passes for 24 yards in his career.

Before he had an opportunity to compete for a starting role head coach Nick Saban shared ahead of the 2021 season that Williams would miss the year with “medical issues” with Williams ultimately entering the transfer portal that November.

Williams has now landed at Utah State and his former teammates are excited to go up against him.

Defensive back Brian Branch shared to the media on Thursday his excitement to line up across from Williams again who was one of the funnier players on the team.

“Yes, Z will be a fun matchup,” Branch said with a smile. “He talks a lot of crap. It’ll be real fun to go against an old teammate and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Alabama welcomes Utah State inside Bryant-Denny Stadium on Sept. 3 with kickoff set for 6 p.m. as its 2022 season begins.
