Alabama fans are going to be on fire at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 8.

A lot has been made about the matchup between Alabama and Texas A&M. A recruiting dust-up happened in the offseason with Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisher. Both coaches had opinions, but Fisher had some words for Saban that the seven-time national championship will have on his mind. Desmond Howard was on ESPN’s Get Up on Friday, discussing the biggest threat to the Crimson Tide’s national championship dreams. The Michigan alum did not choose a Big Ten school. Instead, he continues the buildup by taking Texas A&M. Howard said the Aggies ‘mentally know they can beat Alabama in the trenches’

“I think it is Texas A&M,” Howard said on who is Alabama’s biggest threat. “I like what Jimbo Fisher has been able to do in College Station, Texas. He has stacked excellent recruiting classes. We heard about that in the offseason. Then, they have DeVon Achane. He is a home run hitter at the running back position. He is great between the tackles, excellent on the perimeter, and a weapon in the passing game. You are dealing with a team that does not think, does not believe, they know they can beat Alabama. When you couple that with what Nick Saban said about Jimbo Fisher, it adds more fuel to the fire.”

Texas A&M earned a 41-38 victory over the Tide in 2021 at Kyle Field.

Achane had 34 rushing yards, 45 receiving yards, and a 96-yard kick return for a touchdown. Zach Calzada, the Aggies’ second-team quarterback, started against Alabama and tossed three touchdowns. Texas A&M’s defense sacked Alabama’s Bryce Young four times and recorded an interception off him. Young, Will Anderson, and Jordan Battle remember Coach Fisher’s presser, and the words he used to describe their coach. All three said at SEC Football Media Days that business will be handled on Oct. 8.

Calzada is now at Auburn, and the Aggies lost several defensive players to the National Football League.

This year’s meeting will be interesting with the Tide returning numerous players.
