SUMMARY:
Coming into 2022, Alabama was in desperate need of experience at offensive tackle with the departure of Evan Neal and Chris Owens. Its wishes were answered in the form of Vanderbilt transfer Tyler Steen who brings over 30 games of SEC experience to the Crimson Tide.
During his days with the Commodores, Steen was an effective and versatile starter as he played several games at both left and right tackle throughout his career.
What’s most noticeable about Steen’s game is his great size and length at the tackle position and his aggressive style of play. His style of play is exactly the type of player new offensive line coach Eric Wolford is looking for on his lines.
Although his nature works well in moving players off the line, it also tends to create some balance issues for Steen that have gotten him in trouble in years past. But based on his seasons of experience and the returning players on the Crimson Tide’s 0ffense, Steen is already viewed as one of the team’s top offensive linemen and contributors despite only arriving in the fall.
But Steen has never been surrounded by the amount of offensive talent on Alabama’s roster throughout his college career which could aid him in having his best season in 2022.
