SUMMARY:
Since arriving at Alabama, Jahmyr Gibbs has been one of the most intriguing players on the roster coming into 2022.
After spending his first two seasons at Georiga Tech, Gibbs proved to be a dynamic running back on the ground and in the passing game which is what he hopes to bring to the Crimson Tide’s offense. Gibbs is not the typical Alabama running back weighing in at just 200 pounds, but Nick Saban may not have had a back with the type of getaway speed either.
Gibbs gave fans a glimpse of his acceleration during the team’s A-Day spring game as he ripped off a 75-yard touchdown run. Fast forward to fall camp and Gibbs has been even more effective in the offense as he earned praise from several members of the defense who raved about how unguardable he was.
Even though he’s a relative newcomer, Saban was confident enough in naming Gibbs the starting running back going into the team’s Week 1 matchup against Utah State.
This season will be his first time playing in the SEC, but what Gibbs has already displayed in his career makes him one of the top players on Alabama’s offense and a dark horse Heisman Trophy candidate.
