Alabama football has its final practice Wednesday in preparation for Texas.

The highly anticipated matchup at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium features Steve Sarkisian against his former boss.

Sarkisian told Longhorn reporters that Nick Saban gave him an opportunity when no one else did. He took the chance to come to Tuscaloosa and helped Alabama win a Southeastern Conference Championship, College Football Playoff National Championship and crowned DeVonta Smith for the Heisman as an offensive coordinator. Saban knows the challenges Texas presents, but his players relish playing on the road. Sarkisian’s bunch finished 5-7 in his first season, but the Longhorns returned much talent.

The top impact players that Alabama must watch for versus Texas are below.

DeMarvion Overshown, LB

DeMarvion Overshown leads an improved Texas defense against Alabama.

The senior linebacker returns as the Longhorns’ leading tackler (74 tackles) in 2021. He also recorded 5.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two pass breakups, two quarterback pressures, and one blocked kick. Overshown is arguably the best player on defense, and he told reporters a win over the Crimson Tide ‘would not shock anyone for the Longhorns.’
