Alabama has been without Louisville transfer wide receiver Tyler Harrell through the first two weeks of the season, and as of right now there doesn’t appear to be a solid timetable for his return.

Head coach Nick Saban was asked during the SEC coaches teleconference on Wednesday for an update on Harrell’s status which is when he shared that the receiver still hasn’t been able to practice and will miss this Saturday’s game against ULM.

“He has not been able to practice this week,” Saban said. “He will not play in this game. He’s kind of day-to-day with his foot that he has. Hopefully, he’ll be back sometime soon.”

Harrell joined the Crimson Tide during fall camp and arrived on the team still dealing with a foot injury that has hampered him since.

Alabama’s passing attack saw struggles during its game against Texas a week ago as the team’s leading receiver was running back Jahmyr Gibbs. Saban said on Monday that the wide receiver corps didn’t play fast enough during the first three-quarters of the game, but found its footing in the fourth where the group was able to move the ball a bit better.

“We didn’t play fast and do as good a job,” Saban said. “But I do think that in the fourth quarter we sort of came of age a little bit, played faster, made plays, spread them out a little bit more. Did a little better job in giving them a chance and they took advantage of it.

“So I saw some maturation in the fourth quarter in those guys playing with confidence and making plays.”

The Crimson Tide has also been without sophomore wide receiver JoJo Earle, who suffered a foot fracture during the early stages of fall camp and is also still expected to miss a few more weeks.
