A 2022 second-round pick by the Washington Commanders, Mathis was expected to be an impact player early on for the defense. Unfortunately, during the team’s season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Mathis suffered a torn meniscus and was carted off the field.
It was later reported that he would miss the remainder of the season.
