Alabama looked dominant through two quarters against Arkansas on Saturday.
But it’s far from the story any Crimson Tide fans will be following throughout the second half.
During the second quarter, quarterback Bryce Young left the game against the Razorbacks as he appeared to be favoring his right shoulder. Young slammed his helmet on the sidelines as he entered the medical tent as backup quarterback Jalen Milroe took over.
Young would not return to action in the first half as he would later leave to the locker room.
Prior to his exit, Young completed 7-of-13 pass attempts for 173 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
As the team and world patiently await updates on the Heisman Trophy winner, the Crimson Tide continued to thrive on both sides of the football.
Through the first two quarters, Alabama saw big contributions from several freshmen wide receivers as Kobe Prentice took a pass 47-yards for a touchdown and Isaiah Bond reeled in a 53-yard reception setting up another score.
Alabama’s veterans struggled with drops on the day making the young wideouts contributions that much more integral.
Defensively, the Crimson Tide continued its streak of dominance as Pete Golding’s unit shut down the Razorbacks.
Arkansas quarterback KJ Jefferson couldn’t find much success through the air throwing for just 52-yards in the first half.
Running back Raheim Sanders was the bell cow for the Razorbacks carrying the ball 10 times for 72-yards in the first half.
But it was the Crimson Tide’s success on third down defensively which allowed its offense to jump out to a large lead as Arkansas was only able to convert on 1-0f-6 attempts.
Alabama was bit by the injury bug one last time before the break as defensive back Brian Branch also left the game after getting hit by linebacker Henry To’oto’o late in the second quarter.
Alabama leads Arkansas 28-7, as it awaits more updates on its star quarterback.
