During the second quarter of Alabama’s game against Arkansas, quarterback Bryce Young left the game with a shoulder injury where he would need to be taken to the Crimson Tide’s locker room.

Young, who was visibly frustrated, was later considered questionable to return to action but was ultimately held out by head coach Nick Saban. Despite Young’s loss, Alabama was able to gut out the win over the Razorbacks.

Following the game head coach, Nick Saban offered an update on the status of his Heisman Trophy winning quarterback.

“Bryce has a little AC sprain in his shoulder,” Saban said. “We’ll have to take it day-to-day. I think he’s OK. He doesn’t have a serious injury. We didn’t think he could go back in the game today because I didn’t he had much steam on throwing the ball. He’s had these before and in a few days he starts to respond pretty well so we’ll just have to see how it goes and play it day-to-day.”

Prior to leaving the game, Young completed 7-of-13 passes for 173 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Young was replaced in the game by backup quarterback Jalen Milroe who was able to lead the Crimson Tide to a 49-26 victory. In the third quarter, Milroe ripped off a 77-yard scramble on a key third down which set up a Jase McClellan touchdown which swung the momentum heavily in Alabama’s favor.

“It stopped the bleeding for sure because that was third and long, in bad field position and if we don’t make a first down there then they get the ball back and their down by five and they have all the momentum in the game,” Saban said. “So that was a huge momentum swing in the game in my opinion.”
