Alabama football has been uncharacteristically undisciplined this season when it comes to penalties, especially on the road.
The Crimson Tide committed a record 17 penalties for 154 yards against Tennessee Saturday. Alabama has struggled with penalties throughout the season. The Tide committed 15 penalties for 100 yards against Texas and committed 10 for 101 yards against Arkansas.
Alabama’s penalty struggles have it ranked dead last in the FBS at No. 131 in total penalties this season with 66. The Tide are averaging 79.86 yards in penalties per game and are ranked as No. 128 in penalties per game.
Saban talked about Alabama’s players playing with more disciplined after the loss to Tennessee.
“I think that the big thing our players need to do is learn from this experience, have more respect for playing with discipline, so we do not get penalties, we do not help the other team, we do not make mental errors that help the other team,” Saban said. “But I also told the players that we can accomplish every goal that we had at the beginning of the season.”
Alabama will return to action Saturday when they host the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Bryant-Denny Stadium Saturday.
