Alabama football’s junior outside linebacker, Will Anderson has found himself in this position before.
Anderson knows the feeling of the sharp knife that comes with losing an SEC game on the road on a game-winning field goal. He knows what it feels like to watch opposing teams’ fans pour out from the stands onto the field after their team beat mighty Alabama. He also knows what it feels like to have Mississippi State next up with the feeling of anger and frustration flowing through him.
The last time Alabama lost a regular season SEC game, Anderson came back with a vengeance to terrorize Mississippi State’s offense. The Georgia native finished the night with four sacks and let everyone know the Crimson Tide were not dead.
Anderson and Alabama football are in the same position again with the Bulldogs traveling to Bryant-Denny Stadium Saturday to take on an Alabama football after the Tide were defeated in their previous game. The “Terminator” wants to help Alabama bounce back.
“It has been a lot of elite defenses here,” Anderson said Monday. “A lot of great guys that have built a lot of tradition here. It is most definitely a lot of anger and frustration that we lost something that was so precious to us, that was really big to us. But I think is going to be a good week for us, take the challenge on and continue to improve as a defense.”
After Tennessee picked up a win over Alabama Saturday, Anderson heard a statement from his teammates more than once.
“After the game Saturday, I heard a lot of guys say you know we know this feeling. We know how to bounce back. The point of emphasis I made yesterday was I heard a lot of guys saying we know what this feel like. But I said do really know how to get through this? Do we know what it takes? Are willing to be able to get over this hump? And I think today the guys at workouts had a lot of energy. They were enthusiastic, and I think we are going in the right direction.”
Anderson and Alabama’s defense has some questions to answer this weekend against one of the most explosive passing offenses in the nation.
